These 8 countries are offering easy second passports

It’s now possible to get yourself a second passport, you only need the right amount of investment and guidance. A huge number of people buy second citizenship to get access to a second passport that enables them to live freely in a different country and enjoy perks such as access to a larger number of countries, better tax laws, and more.

More than 50 countries currently offer citizenship by investment and citizenship by residency programs. I will highlight the ten best countries where you can buy cheap citizenship and get a second passport.

#1 Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda offers a second passport by investment for $100,000 plus fees. The country gives you the option to make a non refundable donation to a government fund.

It is one of the cheapest second passport programs costing just $125,000 for a family of four, with the option to add more family members for $15,000 per member. Those who do not wish to make a donation can choose to invest in real estate, starting at $400,000.

The passport gives visa free access to 136 countries, including Russia, the UK, and Schengen countries. Also, the country accepts cryptocurrency as a payment.

#2  Malta

Malta’s citizenship by investment program is very unique as it doesn’t give immediate access to a second passport but offers a fast track option to get a new passport. However, it is a very expensive passport but also one of the most powerful second citizenship programs that gives access to the US and Canada.

It requires €650,000 non-refundable donation to the National Development Fund, for the main applicant, in addition to €150,000 Investment in bonds or shares approved by the Government of Malta that must be kept for at least five years. Furthermore, one has to make a €350,000 Investment in Maltese Real Estate, and keep it for at least five years, or sign a five year rental agreement for at least €16,000 per year.

The total cost can be above a million and while most people cannot afford it, I must add that there is no other second passport offering access to the US and Canada.

#3 Vanuatu

Vanuatu’s second citizenship program was among the most famous ones but it has now fallen in popularity due to Europe’s disapproval. The passport earlier gave access to the Schengen Zone but now you will not be able to fly to your favorite European country with this passport. Do not let websites fool you, Vanuatu doesn’t cover the EU anymore. The passport only gives access to 103 countries now, including Russia and south East Asian countries.

Still, you can get this passport for $160,000 for a single applicant and $220,000 for a family of four. The amount goes to a donation and the passport is ready in less than 3 months.

If you have $450,000, you can get a second passport by investing in an established business, real estate, shares, bank deposits, among others. But, I do not personally recommend this option as Vanuatu’s passport has lost its prestige in the last few years due to how easy it is to get. You can find more powerful and cheaper second passports.

These were some of the best countries offering a second passport. In most cases, you will be able to start the process online and get your passport in 3-6 months with the help of a recognized agent. Some countries, such as Malta, may take longer and require a personal visit.

Most applicants are approved given that you have a clear record and you do not belong to one of the banner countries, including Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, and Sudan .

4 Saint Kitts and Nevis

Donate $150,000 or invest $200,000 to get this second passport. You must keep the property for at least 7 years to push the investment amount to $400,000 if you want to sell it sooner. This passport gives visa-free access to 136 countries and even allows dual citizenship and financing.

It covers most European countries, South American nations, and Russia.

#5 Dominica

Dominica’s second passport is one of the most powerful second passports giving access to Europe, China, and Russia. This can be a good pick if you want a quick passport as the process usually only takes 2 months. You can get a second citizenship for $100,000 for a single family and $200,000 for a family of four, excluding fees, under the donation program. Those who do not wish to donate can buy a second passport for $200,000 through the passport by investment program in real estate.

# Grenada

This small country offers a second passport for just $150,000 for individuals and $200,000 for a family of four if you make a donation. Those who wish to buy real estate can invest $350,000 in an approved real estate project. This amount can be brought down to $220,000 if you co-invest in a $220,000 UNIT.

This can be one of the best second passports for Americans as it gives access to countries that the US and some other popular countries do not cover, including China and Russia, in addition to most European countries.

#7 Turkey

Turkey’s second citizenship program used to be affordable a few years ago but now you must have at least $250,000 to invest in a property to get this second passport. I don’t personally like this option as Turkey might be a great place to live in but their passport isn’t very powerful. It doesn’t cover the UK or Schengen Area and gives access to just 105 countries.

On the plus side, the country allows adding funds in a bank account or investing in a bond for a period of five years. For these options, the investment doubles to $500,000.

#8 Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia gives visa free access to 127 countries including South Korea, the UK, and most European countries with the option to invest $300,000 in real estate or donate $100,000 to a fund for a single applicant and $190,000 for a family of 4. Another option is to invest $500,000 in bonds for a period of 5 years.

This  Eastern Caribbean island nation can be a good place to live after you retire but it is a little on the expensive side.

Those who do not find these countries attractive can get a second passport through the residency route that requires the applicant to live in the country for a specific number of years to be eligible for a passport. Countries like Portugal, Canada, and even the US offer this route. I’ll talk about the best residency options in a future video, for now comment below if you have any questions and subscribe to us for the latest updates.
